Majorca – Why Iberostar Alcudia Park is a great choice for families

It’s the time of year that most family’s attention turns to choosing where to go on their next holiday – whether it’s an Easter escape, Summer holiday or Winter break.

We are always on the lookout for new places to explore and Majorca is a destination that we have yet to take the children to.

Along with warm sunshine, turquoise seas and stunning sandy beaches, Majorca has no shortage of great quality family friendly hotels, in fact it can be difficult to choose one.

For us a big part of our holiday planning is spent researching on where to stay and it’s where we found out about the recently renovated Iberostar Alcudia Park. on the Iberostar website.

This pristine hotel is geared toward families in every way – large rooms, three swimming pools, child friendly menus, beachfront location, a spa for pure relaxation and one of the best kids clubs we have seen from a hotel chain.

Let me explain why we like the look of the Iberostar Alcudia Park

Kid friendly accommodation

I strongly believe a hotel makes your holiday.  It really needs to be your home from home and there is a range of stylish and modern family friendly rooms to choose from.  What really stood out for us were the superior family rooms.

At 38m2, with separate living and bedroom areas, these rooms provides the extra space we require as a growing family – but better still these rooms have a preferential location close to the restaurant and from the kids perspective, the pool.

In the evenings whilst the kids enjoy the free in room WiFi the 9.5m2 balcony looks the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Location

The Iberostar Alcudia Park is in a beautiful beachfront location right on the golden sands of Playa de Muro, the hotels large freeform pool practically touches the beachfront.

Being on one of Mallorca’s longest beaches makes it the perfect set up for watersports from paddle surfing and kayaking to snorkelling.

This privileged setting also allows families to explore Alcudia by bike with a bike hire service and planned routes available from the hotel .

With so much to keep the kids entertained at the hotel, it will be difficult to get them to leave but there is plenty to see and do in this beautiful island.  The Roman City of Pollentia located in Alcudia is close by where you can literally step back in time with a tour around the ruins of this amazing site.

Just half a mile up the road from the hotel is  S’Albufera Natural Park the largest wetland area in the Balaeric Islands which looks a great day out for the kids.  Slightly further afield is the capital city of Palma, a 40 minute drive away.

Why it’s great for families

Apart from the pool what really makes a holiday for our children is ensuring there is plenty to keep them entertained and once more the Iberostar Alcudia Park ticks the right boxes.  In fact you might never have to leave the hotel there is so much to do here.

At its Star Camp you will find an extensive programme of creative activities to not only entertain the kids but also allows them to develop their talents.

This covers everything from being a mini journalist to artists to chefs and kids are grouped by ages.  The Monkeys group targets children aged between 4 and 7 years; Dolphins is for those between 8 and 12 years; whilst 13 to 17 year olds are included in the Eagles group.

This is something we have not seen before and will really transform the family holiday concept for the better.

Whilst the children are enjoying Star Camp, I’m looking forward to a spot of pampering at the hotel spa with its thermal baths and a variety of treatments on offer from massages and facials.

Nightly evening shows including one for the children (the girls love a mini disco and learning new holiday songs) along with Water sports, bike tours and sports classes add to the hotel’s impressive family friendly facilities.

Local Gastronomy

At the Iberostar Alcudia Park, we are looking forward to sampling some of the best Mallorcan cooking, especially as Iberostar pride themselves on spectacular food at their hotels catering for all the family.

We tend to spend a lot of time on property so the all-inclusive plan looks great especially with the current volatility with the Pound to Euro.

At their open buffet restaurant which features live cooking of your freshly prepared meals, you can enjoy as much breakfast, lunch and dinner as you wish – so you can expect to eat well here.  Better still, between May and September you can have lunch on the beach taking in the amazing sea views.

Other options include half board, bed and breakfast or room only so you really have the freedom to choose the right plan that best suits your holiday needs.

Caring for the Environment – Wave of change

We also loved the fact that Iberostar really cares for the environment.  With more than 80% of its hotels located on the beachfront  it has decided to focus on the conservation of seas and oceans to contribute to the evolution of an increasingly sustainable tourism.

Iberostar have become the first hotel chain to have eliminated all single-use plastics from its rooms in Spain replacing them with more environmentally-friendly materials as part of their wave of change movement.

The “Wave of Change” movement has positioned Iberostar as a leader in the industry of responsible tourism and we really hope that other hotel chains will follow their lead.

Having recently returned from a fantastic holiday to Tenerife we really can’t wait to go back for an Easter escape and came across the recently renovated five star Iberostar Anthelia hotel on the Iberostar website.

This family-orientated hotel is impressive with three pools, five restaurants, 60,000 acres of manicured gardens and the dark sand of Fanabe beach right on the hotels doorstep.
