On a visit to Gunwharf Quays shopping outlet on Portsmouth we decided to explore and take in the panoramic view of the Emirates Spinnaker Tower.
You can use Tesco Clubcard vouchers but as we had not planned the visit. We used the mobile app Vouchercloud to get into the attraction at a discounted rate where 2 children get in free with 2 paying adults.
Within the Emirates Spinnaker Tower there are 3 viewing decks. As you enter the elevator on the ground floor it whisks you quickly up to deck 1, which is 328 feet in the air.
The girls loved running across the Sky Walk which is a glass floor 100 metres above sea level.
You can view the sea and ground below or if you prefer to look out rather than looking down on a clear day you can see the Isle of Wight and watch the ferries leaving the harbour.
During our visit the America’s Cup sailing event was on so it was great to view this from the vantage point offered from the Spinnaker tower.
We went on a rainy day and the visibility was still good, we were able to view the Isle of Wight for a time but you were still able to take in the view around Portsmouth.
There are signs pointing out the landmarks in the distance. There is a view guarantee, if you cannot see the 3 Solent Forts on the day of your visit, return for free within 3 months.
There are great photo opportunities and there was a wedding and graduates having their photos taken.
To go even higher on view decks 2 and 3 are accessed via the stairs. View deck 2 is 105m up in the air and is home to café in the clouds. There are also toilets for visitors.
View deck 3 is even higher at 110m high and is the smallest deck but you can view the surroundings from the ultimate height.
There is a gift shop to but your souvenirs or have a family photo with the Spinnaker Tower superimposed in the background.
If you are looking to challenge your fear of heights or for a different experience to enjoy as a family, it is worth a visit.
