Hotel review: Novotel London Brentford

If you are looking for a family friendly hotel for a visit to London, then it’s well worth considering the 4-star Novotel London Brentford.

After spending a long time looking at hotel options across London, we were so happy with our choice at the Novotel London Brentford.

This is our review of our city break at the Novotel London Brentford.

Where is it?

We had an early morning start driving to North London for the amazing Stranger Things Experience in Brent and we were looking for a hotel that would double up as a base close to the M4 and somewhere to spend a relaxing and comfortable night so we could recharge and explore central London the next day.

Location wise the hotel is truly a hidden gem for visitors to London from Wales and the West Country arriving by car.  Just off the M4 it offered secure on-site underground car parking and within a 10-minute walk you were at a tube station which would take you into central London within 20 minutes.

Better still the room rates here for a family of four are really good – family rooms start at £106 per room per night which is excellent value for London.

Background

The Novotel London Brentford has only been opened a few years and this is evident in the modern and stylish interiors throughout the hotel.

The hotel has 202 rooms to suit every type of mini city-breaker, from families with kids to couples and business travellers who it seems are the primary market for this hotel.

More importantly for the girls it contained one of their favourite items on their wish list of any hotel stay – a swimming pool.

What’s it like?

As you step through the doors you are greeted with a contemporary and modern open plan lobby area, with its huge centrepiece tree of life, interactive mirrors and had a really welcoming ambience.

There were lots of stylish communal spaces to relax in, with a bar and restaurant off the lobby area with plenty of comfortable seating areas.

Our Room

We stayed in a superior family room which was more spacious than I thought it would be and a good choice for a family of four.  I liked the modern and contemporary look and feel to our room which was spotlessly clean with a large comfortable queen size bed and a convertible sofa bed for the girls.

As you know, I’m not a big fan of sofa beds for the kids but this was only for one night and the girls said they had a good nights sleep.

We never travel light even for an overnight stay and the room had plenty of storage space and all the mod cons you would want from a four-star hotel offering all the facilities you require for a comfortable stay including:

  • Air conditioning
  • Safe, iron and iron board,
  • Fridge
  • Tea and Nespresso coffee making facilities
  • High speed WiFi
  • Hairdryer and Ironing board

The large wall mounted TV came with the added bonus of Sky TV which kept my husband happy with the range of Sky sports channels, whilst the kids took advantage of the hotels free wifi on their iPads.

There was also a spacious work desk with lots of connectivity options to charge the raft of tech devices that come with us on a trip.

Our window had views of the M4 which did concern me given the proximity to the motorway, but I needn’t have worried, the noise insulation in these rooms was fantastic and we didn’t hear a thing.

The bathroom was modern and sleek with a vanity basin and a shower over the bath. One really cool feature of the bathroom was the glass wall separating the bathroom from the bedroom area which you could change from clear to opaque glass for privacy at a touch of a button.

Facilities

One of the favourite aspects of the hotel for the girls was its fantastic swimming pool on the basement level, they didn’t realise there would be one at the hotel when they checked in.

After a long and hectic day, the leisure facilities on offer at the Novotel offered the perfect place to unwind and have more fun.  The heated pool was a decent size and I really liked the dark blue underwater theming here with its large fish tank wall murals.

A sauna and steam room were also located poolside and like the rest of the hotel, the leisure facilities were modern, clean and a great set up for families.

If you are feeling energetic there was also an on-site gym, but with two kids and walking thousands of steps on my Apple watch around North London and more to do the next day we had our own workout sorted.

Food and drink

We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant as we decided to go out for our evening meal but came back for evening drinks at the hotels Gourmet Bar.

The service here was fantastic and with so many comfortable areas to relax it offered a great way for us to round off our evening.

After a good nights, sleep we headed to the Gourmet Bar and Restaurant for breakfast.  Breakfast is your typical 4-star hotel breakfast with a selection of food on offer from hot cooked breakfast to small pastries, fruit and cereals and set us up perfectly for our visit to central London.

Overall

From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more welcoming or more helpful.  We would be perfectly happy to come back to this hotel in the future, it’s a great base to explore West London and offered terrific levels of customer service plus the added bonus for families is its fantastic swimming pool to enjoy.

Prices at the Novotel London Brentford start from a very reasonable £106 per night  for a family room when booking direct at Novotel as part of the Accor member rate – which is free to sign up.
