We were so excited to be staying at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and having visited it, we discovered that everything wonderful we had heard about it, was true. This hotel is one of the finest family hotels in the world in every little way.
This is our review of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
Upon arrival at Dubai International Airport (early in the morning, after an overnight flight with British Airways) we made our way to the Jumeirah desk where we were met by staff from the hotel waiting to take us to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. That was the last we saw of our luggage until we arrived in our room.
Our driver welcomed us and opened the door of the Jumeirah branded Lincoln Navigator where we received ice cold bottles of water and cold towels for our journey to the hotel.
As we drove nearer to the hotel, we could see its striking wave design and the Burj el Arab both of which are some of Dubai’s most instantly recognisable landmarks. It certainly makes for a great first impression.
Upon reaching the hotel, we arrived in style at the executive lounge entrance, where we were greeted by the staff by surname, and instantly felt welcome and warmly accommodated.
As we had our breakfast in the executive lounge we were checked into the hotel by the attentive executive club staff whilst the girls had great fun playing on the PS4 consoles provided in the excellent kids lounge.
There are not many hotels that offer this level of personal service that made the girls feel so special and welcome.
After we had finished our breakfast one of the staff from the executive lounge accompanied us to our ocean club superior room which was on the 15th floor.
The Room
The hotel has 598 rooms and we stayed in an ocean club superior room which was perfect for a family of four. It had huge floor-to-ceiling windows with the most amazing views of the Arabian Gulf and of the Burj al Arab. This was the view from our room.
In our room we found some lovely welcome gifts for us. This is just one of the many ways that we felt so much at home during our stay.
The room was just stunning, it was spacious, spotlessly clean, luxurious and perfect for families. We had a super king bed which was so comfortable and the girls had 2 lovely single beds. They soon made themselves at home by decorating the beds with their soft toys.
The huge bathroom was luxurious with double washbasins, a lovely big bath complete with rubber duck and a separate walk in shower. Just off the main bathroom was a toilet and bidet.
I love Elemis so I was thrilled to see these toiletries in the bathroom. Along with the luxury Elemis toiletries were complimentary lip balms, dental kits, shaving kits, brushes etc. Basically there was no need to bring a toiletry bag.
The room has a large wardrobe with a good amount of hangers, and also shelving so we had plenty of space to store our clothes. Within the wardrobe, the safe was also located, along with a complimentary beach bag and flip flops. We also had lovely child sized bathrobes aged appropriate for the girls, which the girls loved wearing.
Beside the bed was a touch screen tablet where you could control the curtains, lighting and temperature. My husband loves gadgets and thought this was so cool. There was also another touchscreen device at the other side of the bed.
There was a huge HDTV with lots of kids TV channels and if you do intend to do any work then the desk in the room has one great view. Wifi was complimentary and speeds were great during our stay. Wifi coverage was also excellent with no blackspots across the hotel. If you wanted to go online by any of the pools or beach then the Wifi was up to the task.
Our room was replenished daily with bottles of water and fresh fruit which was a thoughtful touch. The cleanliness of the room was superb and the children loved the attention to detail from the daily towel animals and the housekeeping staff decorating the beds with care setting their toys out in a creative way.
At turn down service, the girls loved receiving a gift each evening from soft toys, sun glasses, chocolate, hats and discovering which towel animals would be there to greet them. For adults at turn down, there were luxury chocolates, chilled water, slippers and an eye mask.
All rooms have ocean views and views of the stunning Burj al Arab. Waking up each morning to this view gave me such a happy feeling. Not many hotels in the world can offer a view as great as this.
On our first morning we were greeted by the general manager and the executive room manager of the hotel and we were introduced to the team.
The food and beverage manager took us on a tour to the executive pool and explained some of the excellent dining choices available at our hotel and the nearby Jumeirah properties. This gave us a choice of 50 restaurants to dine at during our holiday (more on this later).
The Pools
There are six pools for guests to enjoy plus unlimited access to the on-site water park Wild Wadi (you can read our review here) which is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 waterparks on the planet. This was a 5 minute walk away, so we were spoiled for choice.
We spent most of our time at the executive pool which is exclusively for executive level guests at the Jumeirah Beach and the Burj al Arab. The level of service you receive is world class and we had so much fun here.
We were given a luxurious private cabana during our stay which made our time at the executive pool as perfect as possible.
This was really a family friendly poolside paradise with a large freeform pool with swim up bar and a separate children’s splash zone.
The staff at the executive pool go out of their way to ensure your experience is everything you would expect from a world class 5 star hotel. As you walk through the entrance, the attendants take you to your loungers or cabana, as it had been set up already for you. You really don’t have to do anything here, as they wouldn’t even let me carry my beach bag.
You can expect complimentary cool bags full of iced cold bottles of water and cold face cloths, ice lollies and iced fruit brought to you throughout the day.
The girls also liked visiting the pool near Sinbad’s kids club which had plenty of slides to keep them busy.
The huge freeform pool with zero entry access was great fun for children as it also had a fast blue slide.
Across all the pools at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Wild Wadi Water Park I have never seen so many lifeguards monitoring the pool which was really reassuring.
The Beach
The private beach at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel is just gorgeous, coupled with the fact that is has the best view of the Burj al Arab hotel. We visited the beach each day and had so much fun making sandcastles and jumping over the waves. It just had such a relaxing and very family friendly feeling.
There were always plenty of lifeguards on duty at the beach plus there were always plenty of luxurious sun loungers you could relax on.
The Amenities
Some of the fantastic facilities here are the world class tennis courts, a private beach, a PADI diving centre and water sports, a world class spa, a state-of-the-art gym, a marina, lap pool, the hub for teenagers and the kids’ club (Sinbad’s) which offered great supervised activities for children and more.
There are also a number of luxurious shops and even an onsite pharmacy and medical centre. When you stay at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel you never really have to leave the resort.
To get around the hotel and the neighbouring Jumeirah Madinat hotel you could take a complimentary buggy which was one of the many highlights each day for the girls as we were whisked from the hotel to the pool or to a restaurant at night.
We also got to use the abra boats at the Jumeirah Madinat which was really fun and a great way to see this superb hotel.
Even the lifts at the Jumeirah beach were stunning. Our girls loved taking the glass elevator as it gave such great views.
Dining
There was an extensive choice of over 50 restaurants to choose from included in our half board package. There were 21 restaurants and bars in our hotel plus another 40 at the Madinat Jumeirah just a short complimentary chauffeured buggy ride away.
The breakfast buffet each morning at Latitude was one of the most comprehensive we’ve seen with everything and anything you could possibly want at breakfast from eggs cooked to order, cereals, pastries and a full English to Asian, Indian and Arabic dishes. You could also choose to have breakfast in the executive lounge or at beachcombers restaurant on the beachfront.
We tried to experience a different restaurant every evening during our stay from Carnevale, an elegant Italian venue, to the superb gastropub at the D&A, Beachcombers a fantastic Asian restaurant to the award winning Mexican restaurant Tortuga at the Madinat Jumeirah. All of which were fantastic.
We also headed to Naya which is one of the leading Indian restaurants in Dubai and we weren’t disappointed. The meal was just great.
We also dined at the Latitude buffet restaurant. There is one major difference, Latitude is not like your typical buffet restaurant like you get at hotels across Europe, this was just wow! Featuring live cooking stations where you could select fresh meat and fish to be cooked according to preference. The children loved the dessert station which had a dazzling display of desserts, sorbets, ice creams and a chocolate fountain.
Every day between 3 and 5pm as guests who were staying at the executive club, premium leisure or villas have access to the Jumeirah Beach afternoon tea at the premium leisure lounge. The girls really loved it here as did my husband and I as it was a nice respite from the sun. The children were treated to their own selection of handmade treats such as scones and jam, chocolate cake etc. There was so much choice.
My youngest daughter loved the specially made cheese sandwiches that the chef made her each time we visited.
The lounge also served complimentary pre-dinner drinks and canapés between 6 and 8pm and was open to families which was a nice way to start the evening. The girls liked choosing their drinks before running off to play on the PS4’s in the other rooms. For adults only there was another executive lounge on the 24thfloor of the hotel which offered great views over the marina and Arabian Gulf.
Conclusion
The level of service provided at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel is exceptional from the housekeeping staff to the general manager which made our stay so special and memorable.
If you wanted restaurant recommendations or reservations then the executive pool manager or the food and beverages manager would arrange. I was unwell toward the end of the holiday and within 5 minutes of calling the executive room manager the paramedic was at the door of our room, the level of service was just outstanding.
The Flavours half board package is a must when booking as it provides so many dining options. I would also recommend paying the extra supplement to stay at an executive club room as the benefits you receive are worth the extra cost.
This hotel truly lives up to a 5 star rating and our experience at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel was truly world class.
If you are looking for a luxury family friendly hotel in Dubai, then the Jumeirah Beach Hotel will be very hard to beat. We can’t wait to return.
Thanks for your amazing review. We have just booked to take our 2 boys and upgraded to executive based on your recommendation. Thanks!
